Xi Jinping meets Russian veterans

  After wrapping up his talks with Putin, President Xi Jinping met with some Russian veterans, who fought in the battlefields in northeast China during World War Two.

  Xi Jinping praised the veterans for their significant contribution to the final victory of the Anti-Fascist War and China's War Against Japanese Aggression. He also said the friendship between China and Russia is forged by the lives and blood of the two peoples, and should continue to be cemented.

  Makhmut Gareyev is now the president of Russia's Academy of Military Sciences. He was a soldier in the battle to liberate Northeast China's Mudanjiang city. He welcomed President Xi's attendence at the anniversary ceremony. And also called China and Russia to join hands to safeguard world peace and the future of humanity.
