CPPCC National Committee members are arriving in Beijing from around the country. They are gathering for the fifth annual plenary meeting which will start Friday.
The CPPCC is China's top political advisory body. It consists of figures representative of Chinese society who advise the government, and legislative and judicial organs.
Attending this year's event are over 2,000 members from 34 sectors. They started to register for the meeting on Wednesday. Some arriving CPPCC members spoke about their proposals for this year.
"In my field research in rural areas, many returned migrant workers and college graduates need preferential policies to support them to start a business back home. Introducing such policies would help to attract them to go back to their home towns and keep them there," said Song Fengqiang, CPPCC member from Henan.
"I suggest the government draw up successful local reform measures, and turn them into national policies," said Qian Xueming, CPPCC member from Guangxi.
"Our special focus goes to central and western regions, especially places suffering from extreme poverty. We suggest the promotion of the development of waterway shipping, so as to alleviate poverty for people living along these waterways," said Wang Shijie, CPPCC member from Guizhou.
