¡¡¡¡Editor's note: Zhan Juanqing: deputy director, associate professor, and tutor of graduate student of the Special Vehicle Teaching and Research Office of the Military Communications College. He has already finished over ten research projects for the country and the army, two of which got the First Prize of the Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award. In 1995, he was cited as Outstanding Teacher by the PLA General Logistics Department. In 1999, he got Government Special Subsidy.
¡¡¡¡At the drill ground, a unit suddenly received an order.¡¡The military materials had to be sent to the deployment area and it was urgent. Two "Auto Loading and Unloading Supply Vehicles"(ALUSV) swiftly came to the loading area. The loading and unloading process was finished in one minute by only one driver. This surprised all the officers and men present.
¡¡¡¡It was Zhan Juanqing who designed the new type of ALUSV.
¡¡¡¡At an International Auto Exhibition, Zhan came to know that some other countries had realized containerization in transportation.¡¡What our army need was our own "Auto Loading and Unloading Supply Vehicle" to improve the delivery speed.
¡¡¡¡As a scholar specialized in special vehicle, he knew his own responsibility. The research program was established after many visits and researches. The research group worked overtime to produce two prototype vehicles, and through the test, their reliability and performance were positively confirmed. The assessment result from expert was: This vehicle combined the functions of loading, unloading, delivery and storage. It could improve the army's logistics ability. This type of vehicle, after being used by the troops, has been warmly received by troops for its containerization function. ¡¡
¡¡¡¡But Zhan Juanqing did not contend with his achievements. He has now began to do research on "Auto Loading and Unloading Supply Special Trailer". Together with his comrades, he finished the overall design of the vehicle and came up with many technological ideas on how to solve the problem of maintaining driving stability.
