Ren Haibo, a Grade 1 noncommissioned officer of a service station of the Space Command and Control Center of the PLA General Armament Department, is a plain young man and you may not notice him in the crowd. However, since joining the army, Ren has composed 8 songs on military topics and won several prizes in the contests organized by CCTV and other organs.

　　Before joining the army, Ren used to play musical instruments such as flute and harmonica. After he began his service in the army, he was deeply inspired by the thick cultural atmosphere in the barracks. He bought a guitar and a textbook on music theory and started self-study in his leisure time. Soon he composed his maiden song " The Sky is Most Beautiful Without Smoke of War" which was well received by his comrades-in-arms and the first success heighten his confidence. At that time, the CCTV was sponsoring the Fifth National Military Song and Music TV Contest （Jinmage Cup）.　With the help from organs at various levels, he recorded a MTV work and attended the contest with his guitar. Ren had just intended to have a try and gain more experience in the contest, but out of his expectation, he won the silver medal in the contest.
