BEIJING, January 28 (ChinaMil) -- Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) met with Michael G. Vickers, under secretary of defense for intelligence of the U.S. Department of Defense, in Beijing on January 27, 2015.
Sun Jianguo said that the two militaries have maintained a good momentum of development under the concern and promotion of the heads of China and U.S.
He hoped that the two militaries should remain high level mutual visits, strengthen strategic communication, further push forward the building of mutual-trust mechanism, deal with divergences in a proper way, effectively manage and control the risks and challenges, expand and deepen pragmatic exchanges, continue to strengthen joint exercises and trainings, and improve capabilities in responding to the non-traditional security treats together.
Sun Jianguo added that the U.S. side should respect the core interest and major concern of China over such issues on Taiwan, Hong Kong, East China Sea, South China Sea and cyber security, and not talk in one way and act in another.
Sun said that China is willing to make joint efforts with the U.S. side to seriously implement the consensus reached by the two state heads and push forward the China-U.S mil-to-mil relations along a healthy and stable way.
Michael G. Vickers said that the mutual respect is an important principle for US-China bilateral ties. The U.S. is in accordance with the Chinese side in pushing forward the new military ties between U.S and China. He added that both sides should keep high level contacts, promote the pragmatic cooperation and ensure the stable strategies.
