CMC holds rank promotion ceremony for 10 generals

BEIJING, July 31 (ChinaMil) -- China's Central Military Commission (CMC) held a rank promotion ceremony for generals of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Armed Police Force (APF) in Beijing on Friday. Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also CMC chairman, conferred certificates of command to the newly-promoted generals.
At the ceremony starting at 9:00, CMC Vice Chairman Gen. Fan Changlong read an order for promotions of PLA generals signed by CMC Chairman Xi Jinping on June 30 and an order for promotion of APF general signed by CMC Chairman Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang on July 2.
Air Force Gen. Xu Qiliang, who is CMC vice chairman, presided over the promotion ceremony.
The promoted officers included Deputy Chief of General Staff of the PLA Wang Guanzhong, Deputy Director of the PLA General Political Department Yin Fanglong, PLA Navy Political Commissar Miao Hua, President of the PLA National Defense University Zhang Shibo as well as Song Puxuan, Liu Yuejun, Zhao Zongqi and Li Zuocheng, who are commanders of the Beijing, Lanzhou, Jinan and Chengdu Military Area Commands respectively, Zheng Weiping, political commissar of the Nanjing Military Area Command, and Wang Ning, commander of the Armed Police Force.
Xi Jinping conferred certificates of command to the newly-promoted generals and shook hands with them and expressed his congratulations.
Gen. Chang Wanquan, Gen. Fang Fenghui, Gen. Zhang Yang, Gen. Zhao Keshi, Gen. Zhang Youxia, Adm. Wu Shengli, Air Force Gen. Ma Xiaotian and Gen. Wei Fenghe, who are CMC members, attended the promotion ceremony.
