BEIBU GULF, December 29 (ChinaMil) -- The 17th joint patrol mission of China and Vietnam in the Beibu Gulf was successfully completed on December 23, 2014.
Vietnam and China respectively assigned two naval vessels to participate in the patrol mission. The patrol taskforces of the two sides left the rally point for their designated routes to start the patrol mission on the morning of December 22.
The joint patrol mission was carried out alternately within the two designated sea areas of the two countries. During the mission, the two sides notified each other with hydro meteorological information, and sea and air as well as other information within the area on a regular basis, so as to enhance the exchange on maritime liaison communications and resource sharing.
By changing command relations, the two patrol taskforces improved the procedure of organizing command and the level of coordination command of the joint patrol.
This joint patrol took over 20 hours, covering more than 200 nautical miles.
