Chinese navy completes 800th escort mission in Gulf of Aden

  GULF OF ADEN, January 4 (ChinaMil) -- Under the escort of the Chinese naval ships, three merchant ships arrived safely at the western part of Gulf of Aden and continued their voyages on the afternoon of December 31, 2014, local time.

  So far, the Chinese naval escort taskforce has fulfilled 800 escort tasks in the Gulf of Aden.

  The 800th escort task was performed by the 19th Chinese naval escort taskforce composed of guided missile frigates Linyi and Weifang and the comprehensive supply ship Weishanhu.

       They set sail from the east part of the Gulf of Aden on December 29 to escort a Panama-registered ship and two Hong Kong merchant ships. The 19th Chinese naval escort taskforce replaced the 18th escort taskforce to start independent escort mission on December 26, 2014.
