SHENYANG, March 27 (ChinaMil) -- A 13-person capstone delegation from the U.S. National Defense University (NDU) led by Prof. Watson Cynthia with the National War College of the U.S. NDU visited a regiment, which is open to the public and foreign visit, under the PLA Shenyang Military Area Command (MAC) on March 27.
The U.S. visitors listened to the brief introduction of the regiment, visited the "8th Red Company", a company whose history can be traced back to the Red Army period in 1920s. They also toured the cultural and sports center of the regiment, watched the static display of some main-battle weapons and support equipment, and had lunch with some officers and men of this regiment.
In the itinerary of the U.S. military capstone, the regiment is the only troop unit it will visit, according to sources.
Prof. Watson Cynthia, leader of the U.S. NDU capstone delegation, expressed her thanks to the PLA Shengyang MAC for the warm and friendly reception as well as the meticulous arrangement. "This visit is of great significance, as the U.S. NDU cadets have learned a lot from the visit," Cynthia said, "Especially, through the close-distance contacts, we have got more intuitive knowledge and deeper understanding of the PLA's troop unit. We wish this regiment to develop better and better." She added.
