SHANGHAI, April 8 (ChinaMil) -- The Endurance-class landing platform dock RSS Resolution of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), led by Commander Zhou Kebin, captain of the RSS Resolution, arrived at a naval port in Wusong of Shanghai on the afternoon of April 7, 2015, to start its 6-day visit to Shanghai. This is the RSS Resolution's maiden visit to Shanghai and the sixth port call paid by the Singapore Navy ships to Shanghai.
Captain Liu Junhong, the RSN 191 Squadron commander, is scheduled to fly to Shanghai from Singapore on April 8 to attend this 6-day visit. He will led the major RSN officers coming to Shanghai with the RSS Resolution to visit Rear Admiral Gu Xiangbing, deputy commander of the East China Sea Fleet of the Navy of the chinese people's Liberation Army (PLAN) , and leaders of Shanghai municipal government.
The East China Sea Fleet of the PLAN has prepared a welcoming reception for the visiting RSS Resolution.
Singapore vice Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will attend the exchange activities held on the RSS Resolution on April 11, according to sources.
The naval officers and men of the two countries will visit each other's warships and hold basket ball matches. The Singapore Navy will host a deck reception on the RSS Resolution.
In addition, the naval servicepersons of the RSS Resolution will visit famous attractions of Shanghai such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Yu Garden, etc.
The RSS Resolution, with the length of 141 meters, beam of 21 meters, sinking water of 4.5 meters, displacement of 8500 tons and the highest speed of 20 knots, carried 221 servicepersons to Shanghai on April 7 including 21 officers, 103 midshipmen, 90 sailors and 1 civilian employee as well as 6 foreign officers and midshipmen attending training programs on the ship.
The RSS Persistence paid a port call to Shanghai in March, 2013. Up to now, among the four Endurance-class landing platform dock ships of the RSN, two have visited shanghai.
