BEIJING, May 20 (ChinaMil) – Ma Xiaotian, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, met with Pasquale Preziosa, the visiting chief of staff of Italian Air Force, at the air force headquarters in Beijing on the afternoon of May 19, 2015.
Ma Xiaotian said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Italy, and that the two countries maintain good and stable political relations, good economic complementarities and solid cooperation basis.
Ma Xiaotian stressed that as an important part of the bilateral ties, the mil-to-mil relations between China and Italy keep moving forward, the defense ministries and military leaders of the two countries have frequent exchanges, the dialogue and cooperation mechanism runs smoothly, and the cooperation in each field is continuously deepening.
Ma also said that the relations between the two air forces are developing smoothly, and the exchanges in professional and technical fields are expanding. Hopefully both sides can continue to explore new fields and new ways for pragmatic exchanges and cooperation on this basis to promote joint development, Ma added.
Preziosa thanked Ma Xiaotian for the gracious invitation and friendly reception by the Chinese side. He said that the Italian Air Force attaches great importance to developing the friendly air force relations between the two countries, and hoped that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two air forces in each field can be pushed forward constantly.
Ma Xiaotian held a welcoming ceremony for Preziosa and his entourage prior to the meeting, who are scheduled to visit China from May 18 to May 23 at the invitation of Ma Xiaotian.
