China's defense minister meets with Tunisian counterpart

  BEIJING, September 2 (ChinaMil) -- Gen. Chang Wanquan, Chinese state councilor and defense minister, met with Tunisia's Defense Minister Farhat Horchani, in Beijing on the afternoon of September 1, 2015.

  Farhat Horchani came to Beijing on behalf of the Tunisian President for China's commemorative activity marking the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War.

  Chang Wanquan said China and Tunisia were once important battlefields of the World Anti-Fascist War. The two peoples had arduous struggles and made significant contributions to world peace.

  Chang expressed that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Tunisia 51 years ago, there has been sustained, healthy and stable development in bilateral relations as well as steady cooperation in various fields.

  As an important part of bilateral relations, the military relationship of the two countries has developed smoothly in recent years, and the two militaries conducted effective cooperation in fields including personnel training and so forth, Chang stressed, saying that China is willing to work with Tunisia to promote bilateral military relations to a new level.

  Horchani said Tunisia has attached great importance to the relationship with China and the Chinese armed forces. Tunisia is willing to further deepen the cooperation with China in fields such as anti-terrorism, personnel training, equipment and technology, in a bid to promote the military relations to a new level.

  It is learnt that Tarek Amri, the Tunisian ambassador to China, also attended the meeting.
