Kazakhstani president meets with Chinese defense minister

  ASTANA, Oct. 13 (ChinaMil) -- Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan, who is now visiting Kazakhstan, in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, on October 12, 2015.

  Nazarbayev expressed his congratulations to China on the successful activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. He and Chinese President Xi Jinping have held talks for times and reached many important consensuses on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, Nazarbayev mentioned. Kazakhstan is China’s true and reliable partner and its eternal good neighbor, Nazarbayev continued.

  He hoped that the defense departments of the two countries can carry out even closer cooperation. Kazakhstani military thanks Chinese military for its support and assistance to Kazakhstan’s military construction and is willing to strengthen exchange and cooperation with the Chinese side in the anti-terrorism and other defense and security fields, Nazarbayev added.

  Chang Wanquan said that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Kazakhstani side to conscientiously implement the important consensuses reached by President Xi Jinping and President Nazarbayev, push forward the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in the defense and security fields and make positive efforts for enriching the connotation of the China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership and maintaining regional peace and stability.

  Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Hanhui, Kazakh Presidential Aide and Secretary of National Security Council Nurlan Ermekbaev, and Imangali Tasmagambetov, defense minister of Kazakhstan, attended the meeting.
