TEHERAN, Oct. 15 (ChinaMil) -- Admiral Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) started his visit to Iran and held talks with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan in Teheran on Wednesday.
China attaches great importance to developing relations with Iran, and celebrates the adoption of the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue, Adm. Sun said.
His Iran visit this time aims to further enhance friendship and deepen cooperation between the militaries of the two countries and exchange views with the Iranian side on the military-to-military relations and issues of common concern, working together to maintain peace and stability both in the region and the world, Sun noted.
Iranian leaders pay high attention to the strategic cooperation with China, and believe that China is playing an important and unique role in international affairs, Dehqan said.
The Iran-China relations have developed sustainably and stably in recent years, evidenced by the fruitful political and economic cooperation and smooth communication and coordination in many international issues, Dehqan said, adding that the Iranian Armed Forces is willing to keep expanding friendly exchange and cooperation with the Chinese PLA in different areas.
Sun Jianguo also held talks respectively with Brigadier General Mohammad Bagheri, deputy chief of general staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.
