BEIJING, Oct.16 (ChinaMil) -- Hassan Firouzabadi, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, met with Sun Jianguo, the visiting deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on October 15, 2015, Tehran time.
Sun Jianguo said that both China and Iran have long histories and splendid civilizations. The ancient Silk Road witnessed the friendship between the two countries. Under the new historical conditions, it is important to rebuild the Silk Road and promote common development.
Sun added that the friendly exchanges between the two militaries have been carried out in many fields and a good momentum of development is seen in bilateral military relations. The two sides should seize the opportunity to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, deepen pragmatic cooperation in the military field and promote bilateral military relations to a higher level.
Hassan Firouzabadi said that Iran and China have similar views on international and regional affairs and have a broad space for cooperation in many fields. Iran is full of expectation and confidence in enhancing exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries. He hoped that greater development in bilateral military relations can be achieved in order to contribute to the development of the relations between the two countries.
Pang Sen, Chinese ambassador to Iran, also attended the meeting.
