CMC vice chairman meets with Iranian air force commander

BEIJING, Nov. 5 (ChinaMil) -- General Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), met with Brigadier General Hassan Shah Safi, the visiting Commander of Iranian Air Force in Beijing on November 4, 2015.

Developing friendly cooperative relations between China and Iran not only complies with fundamental interests of the people of the two countries, but also is conducive to safeguarding regional and world peace and stability, Xu Qiliang said.

Under the care and promotion by the leaders of the two countries, China and Iran have established close political relations, Xu continued, adding that on the basis of fruitful cooperation results in economics and trade, the two countries will explore new cooperation fields through the construction of the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st-Century Maritime Silk Road" as well as the development of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

The military-to-military relations, as an important part of the relations between the two countries, have maintained a good momentum of development in recent years, as evidenced by the constant deepening of cooperation in fields including high-level mutual visits, naval and air force exchange as well as personnel training, Xu noted.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) attaches importance to the friendly relations with the Iranian Armed Forces and is willing to further explore cooperation potential and strengthen multi-level exchange and cooperation between the two sides in different areas so as to constantly push forward the friendly relations between the two militaries, Xu stated.

Iran cherishes the traditional friendship with China and attaches great importance to developing relations between the two countries and the two militaries, Shah Safi said.

He hoped that the exchange and cooperation between the Chinese PLA and the Iranian Armed Forces, especially between the two air forces, would be further expanded and deepened.

Admiral Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese PLA, attended the meeting.
