PLA chief of general staff visits Chinese naval taskforce in Djibouti

Djibouti, Nov. 9 (ChinaMil) -- General Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), extended greetings to officers and soldiers of the guided-missile frigate Sanya of the 21st Chinese naval escort taskforce who docked at the Port of Djibouti to take on supplies, November 8, 2015.

Fang Fenghui inspected the equipment and facilities of the warship, held talks with officers and soldiers and spoke highly of their outstanding performance.

Fang Fenghui said that the taskforce has been sailing continuously in the Gulf of Aden and waters off the Somali coast for more than 90 days. Its successful completion of the first stage of escort missions shows a good image of China as a responsible major country as well as the Chinese Navy's good spirit.

Fang Fenghui urged officers and soldiers of the taskforce to keep up the good work and resolutely accomplish escort missions in order to contribute to regional security and world peace.

Fu Huaqiang, Chinese ambassador to Djibouti, Zhang Jianping, deputy commander of the PLA Air Force, and Qiu Yanpeng, chief of staff of the PLA Navy, accompanied Fang on the visit.
