Senior military official meets head of Singapore's military logistic department

BEIJING, November 18 (ChinaMil) -- Zhao Keshi, member of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and head of the PLA General Logistics Department, met with TAN Kan Whye, head of the Joint Logistic Department of Singapore Armed Forces, and his delegation in Beijing, on the morning of November 17, 2015.

Zhao Keshi noted that China and Singapore, as good neighbors, have enjoyed long-standing friendly exchanges. Since the diplomatic ties established 25 years ago, the two countries have continuously deepened their cooperation and made remarkable achievements in all areas. China values the friendship with Singapore and is willing to take president Xi Jinping's visit to Singapore as an opportunity to push bilateral relations to a bright future, so as to make positive contributions to regional peace, stability and prosperity, Zhao added.

Zhao Keshi pointed out that the Chinese and Singaporean militaries have made concrete achievements in a range of areas, including academic training, joint exercises and trainings and talent cultivation. Although different in size, the Chinese and Singaporean militaries have common aspirations and laws in their development. The two sides should broaden and deepen their exchanges and cooperation, keep enriching the contents of mil-to-mil cooperation, and boost the development of bilateral ties.

TAN Kan Whye expressed that Singapore and China have carried on their friendship and the Singaporean military supports the consolidation and deepening of bilateral and mil-to-mil friendly cooperation with China. He urged the two sides to continue the exchanges in relevant areas and further enhance their cooperation in such fields as training support, warfare support, MOOTW (Military Operations Other Than War) and talent cultivation.

TAN Kan Whye hoped his visit will cement and reinforce the friendly cooperation between the two militaries, especially between their logistic units.

TAN Kan Whye and his delegation will also visit the PLA Logistics Academy and the PLA Logistic Engineering University.
