BEIJING, November 19 (ChinaMil) -- Xu Qiliang, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), who is now on his official visit to Russia, held talks with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Moscow on the morning of November 18, 2015.
Xu Qiliang said that under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the current China-Russian relations have been continuously maintaining the high-level development, and the many-time meetings between the heads of the two countries, as well as their participations in the activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War held in each other’s countries, have exerted comprehensive and profound influences.
Xu expressed that the two militaries’ positive participations in relevant commemorative activities marking the victory of the World War II and their exchanges and cooperation in fields including joint training exercises, military skill competitions and military cultures this year have resulted in remarkable achievements.
Xu also stressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Russian side to resolutely implement the consensuses reached by the heads of the two countries so as to push forward comprehensive and in-depth development of the relations between the two militaries.
Shoigu expressed that the further deepening of comprehensive and mutual-benefit cooperation between Russia and China has brought real benefits to the people of the two countries.
The constant upgrade of the pragmatic cooperation levels between the two militaries in various fields has vigorously promoted the constant development of the relations between the two countries, Shoigu continued, emphasizing that the Russian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to continuously expand cooperation fields and explore new forms of cooperation so as to make positive efforts to promote healthy and stable development of the relations between the two militaries.
The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of common concern.
Before the talks, Shoigu held a welcoming ceremony for Xu Qiliang and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the Russian Armed Forces in front of the building of Russian defense ministry.
After the talks, Xu Qiliang visited the Russian National Defense Command Center. Xu also laid a wreath in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Martyrs at Alexander Garden in Moscow on the morning of that day.
Li Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia, Yi Xiaoguang, deputy chief of general staff of the PLA, and Liu Sheng, deputy director of the PLA General Armament Department (GAD), also attended the above-mentioned activities.
