Chinese naval hospital ship pays first visit to Grenada

Overseas Chinese and local people welcome the arrival of Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark at the Port St. George, Grenada, on December 5, 2015. The Chinese naval ship arrived in the Port St. George for a seven-day medical service and goodwill port visit.

SAINT GEORGE, Dec. 7 (ChinaMil) – The hospital ship Peace Ark of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), which was carrying out the "Harmonious Mission-2015", arrived in Grenade's capital Saint George on December 5, 2015, local time, for a seven-day goodwill port visit, the first such visit by the Chinese naval ship.

The hospital ship Peace Ark sailed into the Port St. George at about 9:40 am. Grenada foreign minister, health minister, chief of police and other government officials, Chinese ambassador to Grenada Ou Boqian, and representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese organizations, welcomed the ship at the port.

During the port visit, the two sides will carry out exchange and cooperation in medical, cultural and other fields.

Staff members aboard the Chinese Peace Ark will provide medical services for patients and will also assign some medical experts on a three-day medical tour to Kariakoo Island and Petit Martinique island.

Located on the southernmost end of Windward Islands on the east Caribbean Sea, Grenada has a territory of 344 sq km and a population of about 110,000 people.
