China, Vietnam vow to strengthen military ties

BEIJING, January 5 (ChinaMil) -- Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Nguyen Thanh Cung, the visiting vice defense minister of Vietnam, in Beijing on the morning of January 5, 2016.

Sun Jianguo said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam have successfully visited each other last year, the two countries have become a strategic community of common destiny, and also the bilateral relations between the two countries and two militaries have maintained a sound momentum of development.

The Chinese military is willing to work with the Vietnamese military to earnestly implement the consensus reached between top leaders of the two countries and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral military relations, Sun added.

Nguyen Thanh Cung said that the Vietnam-China traditional friendship formed in past revolutionary war years between the two peoples and two militaries is precious wealth and both sides should cherish, inherit and carry forward it.

The Vietnamese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to push the bilateral relations between the two countries and two militaries for greater development, said Nguyen Thanh Cung.
