BEIJING, Feb. 24 (ChinaMil) -- The PLA Air Force has recently put into use the runway fast cleaning vehicle for foreign object damage (FOD) prevention.

A foreign object will cause damage to the engine or tyres of the plane taxiing on the runway. Before the cleaning vehicle comes into being, several soldiers were needed to walk up and down on the runway to clear anything that could potentially cause damage.

The runway fast cleaning vehicle can be operated by one person and the cleaning time is shortened by 2/3 compared with the past, obviously improving the cleaning efficiency.

Relying on the magnetic attraction system and the dust collection system, the vehicle can collect stones with the diameter of 10mm or so and finger-sized screws. It can run 25km at one charging with a working speed of 20 km per hour.

It is learnt that the vehicle has been used in some airports of the PLA Air Force.
