1,000-plus private enterprises obtain weapon production permits

BEIJING, March 15 (ChinaMil) -- The State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) of China has introduced specific measures to accelerate the opening of military industry to deeply push forward the development strategy of military-civilian integration.

To date, over 1,000 Chinese private enterprises have obtained permits and certificates for researching, developing and producing weapons and equipment, an increase of 127 percent from that at the end of the 11st Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), according to the SASTIND on March 11, 2016.

The SASTIND’s specific measures include formulating the Opinions on Pushing Forward In-Depth Development of Military-Civilian Integration in National Defense Science and Technology Industry, releasing a new-version catalogue of permits for researching, developing and producing weapons and equipment, opening the channel for private enterprises’ application for military-industry fixed-asset investment projects, accelerating the establishment of a military-civilian universal standards, and building a batch of innovative military-civilian integration demonstration areas.

In 2016, the SASTIND will accelerate the structural adjustment of military products’ research, development and production capacities, improve the supervision mechanism for a fair and orderly military product market, push forward the coordination and innovation in national defense science and technology, and promote the export-oriented national defense scientific and technological industry through strengthening international cooperation, according to sources.
