BEIJING, April 8 (ChinaMil) -- General Ma Xiaotian, member of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), met with Air Chief Marshal Andrew Pulford, the visiting chief of the air staff of the Royal Air Force of the U.K., in Beijing on April 7, 2016.

Ma Xiaotian said that both China and the U.K. are both important influential countries in the world, consolidating and deepening the China-U.K. relations is not only conducive to development of the two countries, but also to the world peace and prosperity, Ma continued.

The military-to-military relation is an important part of the relations between China and the U.K., and the defense strategic dialogue between the two militaries as well as the working dialogue mechanism between the two defense ministries have been carried out smoothly, Ma added.

Ma was satisfied with the smooth development of relations between the Chinese PLA Air Forces and the Royal Air Forces of U.K., as evidenced by frequent high-level contacts, constant expansion of professional exchange areas and deeper cooperation in personnel training and exchange. He hoped the two air forces would further enhance mutual understanding and expand the areas of communication and cooperation, so as to push forward the friendly cooperative relations between the two air forces to a new high.

Pulford said that the militaries and the air forces of the U.K. and China have established close relations, and the two air forces are willing to strengthen and deepen their pragmatic cooperation. The U.K. side hopes to constantly expand cooperation with the Chinese side, Pulford added.

Before their meeting, Ma Xiaotian held a welcoming ceremony for his British counterpart. Pulford started his China visit on April 7 at the invitation of Ma Xiaotian.
