China, Russia to hold joint anti-terrorism drill

BEIJING, May 19 (ChinaMil) -- To further deepen the pragmatic friendly cooperative relations between the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force (APF) and the Russian National Guard (RNG), a delegation led by Maj. Gen. Wei Youjiang, deputy chief of staff of the APF, paid a working visit to Russia from May 13 to 17, 2016.

During the visit, Wei Youjiang carried out in-depth communication with commanding officers of troop units of the RNG at various levels and visited the “Dzerzhinsky” independent operations division and the “Mercury” special force.

Entrusted by the Chinese APF leaders, Maj. Gen. Wei Youjiang signed relevant minutes together with Lt. Gen. Yuriy Babkin, deputy commander and director of the Combat Training Bureau of the RNG, on carrying out joint anti-terrorism drills.

According to the minutes, the Chinese APF and the RNG will carry out in Russia a joint anti-terrorism drill codenamed “Cooperation-2016” attended by special operations units with the aims to strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the two sides, learn the useful experience and practice from each other and effectively enhance both sides’ duty-performing capabilities so as to better safeguard the national security and social stability of their respective countries.
