Remote info-query service boosts armaments procurement reform

XI'AN, May 30 (ChinaMil) -- The opening ceremony of five remote query service of the weaponry and equipment acquisition information website (www.weain.mil.cn) of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was held simultaneously in Xi'an, Shenyang, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chongqing.

Representatives from the Armaments Development Department of the Central Military Commission (CMC), the armaments departments of different services and arms of the PLA,local governments, defense industry groups, research institutions and private enterprises attended the opening ceremony.

One year after the launch, the website has possessed more than 9,000 registered users. In the website, the military has posted more than 2,000 pieces of acquisition requests while manufacturers and research institutions have posted over 4,000 pieces of information on their products and technologies.

The remote query service is an expansion of the weain.mil.cn. The opening of such service in five cities with a large number of defense industry enterprises and research institutions aims to help these enterprises and institutions conduct information inquiry and docking with the demanders more rapidly and effectively.

The functioning of the remote query service is an important measure to implement the civil-military integration strategy, marking the PLA has made a solid step forward in the reform of equipment procurement work.
