TACHENG, Xinjiang, June 22 (ChinaMil) -- China and Kazakhstan kicked off the "Mountain Search 2016" joint border management and control operation on Tuesday. The frontier defense troops of the two countries started the joint patrol from China's boundary marker No. 91-1 on the China-Kazakhstan border on Tuesday morning.

The China-Kazakhstan "Mountain Search 2016" joint border management and control operation is another joint action China and Kazakhstan have carried out to guard against and crack down on criminal activities at the border areas since the two countries initiated the “Shoulder-to-Shoulder” joint frontier control and management operation in 2009.

It is learnt that during the 4-months-long operation, it will take five days every month for the frontier defense troops of the two countries to search and petrol simultaneously within their respective territories. The border guards of both sides will conduct searching and patrol in the remote mountainous areas to get first-hand information of the residents and livestock along the border, and obtain clues on cross-border crimes.

Since July 2003, the Chinese frontier defense units stationed in Tacheng of Xinjiang have carried out joint frontier control and management actions with Kazakhstani frontier defense units stationed in Makanchi and Zaysan of Kazakhstan for nearly 100 times.
