BEIJING, July 22 (ChinaMil) -- Over 1,000 troops in 22 teams of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) delegation departed from Beijing, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou and Urumqi respectively by air at wee hours of July 21 for Russia and Kazakhstan to participate in the International Army Games 2016.
Among these teams, a 16-member team from a brigade stationed in Tibet, representing the mountain troop units of the Chinese PLA, will have its maiden show at an international military competition like the International Army Games 2016 held in a foreign country.
The 16 soldiers are winners of neary100 tests organized for more than 60 candidates preliminarily selected from the brigade. In the four-month-long preparatory training period, they were taken to the northern Tibetan plateau to go through hard training of more than 10 items including weight-loaded swimming, wetlands crossing, ice field crossing and parachute landing with forced marching.
