ZHUHAI, July (ChinaMil) -- The Knights and Swifts aerobatic demonstration teams of the Russian Air Force will stage flight shows with the Chinese Bayi Aerobatic Team of the Chinese PLA Air Force during the 2016 China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2016) to be held from November 1 to 6, 2016, organizer of the event said on July 24.

Su Quanli, deputy general manager of the organizer Zhuhai Airshow Co., Ltd., said that the composite formation of Russia’s “Knights” and “Swifts” aerobatic demonstration teams only performed flight shows in Russia in the past.

The Red Arrows Aerobatic Team of the British Royal Air Force will also join the flight shows during Airshow China 2016 subject to British government’s approval, Su mentioned.

New exhibition halls have been built on the site of the demolished old exhibition halls for the upcoming Airshow China 2016 in Zhuhai in south China’s Guangdong province. The show venue consists of two permanent exhibition halls, namely Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition Hall and Weapons Exhibition Hall, and a temporary exhibition tent.

The total exhibition hall area for Airshow China 2016 will be increased to 82,000 square meters from 66,000 square meters for the previous one. It is estimated that about 130 aircraft will be showcased and the outdoor area for the air show will be over 350,000 square meters, Su said.

A total of over 700 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions in the world will showcase their products at the air show, among which about 45 percent are from overseas.

The air show includes pavilions not only for Russia, Ukraine, France, Czech, the U.S., Canada and South Korea, which have consecutively participated in the air show for several times, but also for Austria, which will attend the show for the first time, and for the Netherlands and New Zealand, which will participate in the air show again.

In addition, China Aero-Engine Group Co., Ltd., which was just established early this year, will also debut at the show, Su disclosed.

The air show will have some themed areas on engine, Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and general aviation as well as that on military-civilian integration.

In addition, on-site dynamic demonstration for over 10 types of military and civilian equipment including armored tanks, defense assault vehicles and SUVs will be held at the show, Su said.

During the air show, a number of events will also be held, including the 8th China International Aviation and Aerospace Summit, the themed activities for the 60th anniversary of the founding of Chinese aerospace industry organized by China’s State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and the aerospace agency conference of the five BRICS countries, Su added.
