Chinese military pentathlon team leaves for Austria

BEIJING, Aug. 5 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese military pentathlon team set out Thursday from Beijing to Austria for the 63rd World Military Pentathlon Championship that will be inaugurated in Vienna on August 8.

Sponsored by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) annually, World Military Pentathlon Championship consists of contests of basic military sports items including 200m rifle shooting, 500m obstacle running, 50m obstacle swimming, grenade throwing, as well as men's 8km and women's 4km cross-country race.

The Chinese military pentathlon team has made a dazzling track record in the past World Military Pentathlon Championships with claiming 96 world titles and creating 65 world records.

To prepare for this year's championship, the 10 members of the Chinese team had a two-month-long special training on the high land in Southwest China.
