Senior military official stresses quality safety in armaments development

DALIAN, Aug. 10 (ChinaMil) -- General Zhang Youxia, director of the Equipment Development Department under China's Central Military Commission (CMC), made an inspection tour to the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) on August 6.

DSIC is the largest and most internationally competitive shipbuilding enterprise in China. Accompanied by Hu Wenming, chairman of the board of CSIC, Zhang Youxia inspected the shipyard, met with research fellows and workers, had exchange of views with responsible officials and technical personnel on development of relevant projects.

Armaments development matters a great deal in maintaining national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Gen. Zhang said.

He emphasized the vital importance of quality control in armaments manufacturing and urged the DSIC to earnestly implement quality regulations, carry out strict quality management and enhance quality accountability to ensure quality safety of equipment.

Gen. Zhang's entourage included Deputy Director of CMC's Equipment Development Department Lieut. Gen. Wang Li, Deputy Commander of PLA Navy Vice Adm. Liu Yi and CSIC Vice President Yang Jincheng.
