On Jan. 11, the reporter saw in the training field of a motorized infantry division of the Shenyang Military Area Command that, with the application of over 40 new scientific and technological achievements with high IT contents in military training, including operational command and control system, air situation information early warning system, armament damage evaluation system and what not, some gratifying changes have taken place in new annual military training of the troops.

　　The speed of information processing and transmission has become faster. The reporter saw at a command cabinet of an AA artillery regiment of the division that offices and men were in a drill with self-developed air situation information early warning system. The application of the system has enabled the regiment to realize real-time transmission of air situation information.

　　The firepower response has become faster. The reporter saw on the training ground of an artillery regiment of the division that along with the application of a certain type of artillery firing command system, the command post was able to conduct direct command over battalion, company, platoon and even individual gun. Thus the time needed for the preparation of fire has been greatly shortened, and it took less than 60 seconds from picking up enemy targets to covering enemy's targets with the first group of artillery rounds.

　　The overall operational capability has been enhanced. Along with the application of the operational command and control system, the transmission of operational command information between the higher and lower levels of the division has become more smooth, various arms units of the division have, in the main, realized interconnection of information system , thus the joint operation capabilities of its troops has been greatly boosted.
