At the daybreak of Jan. 17, upon getting the order, more than 1,000
officers and men of the Armed Police No. 8662 Unit rushed to the destination of
emergency-dealing to conduct hunting-down exercise after hiding for more than 8
hours in a snowy area in the northern part of the Tianshan Mountains. By then,
the unit had already had 20 fighting methods tested under severe cold
conditions.
Since the urgent set-off on Jan. 12, more than 1,000 officers and men of
the unit had been out on an emergency mission despite the severe cold of
-30℃,with nearly 100 vehicles racing to the snow-covered deserts and mountains.
In order to do well in the exercise, the unit either introduced in or innovated
more than 20 sets of appliances including the smart low-temperature starter and
the wheel anti-skid device, thus solving the difficulties of getting vehicles
started rapidly and having them rolling on snow-covered field and icy road in
frigid climate, and improving the troop's capability of long-distance maneuver
under sever cold conditions. In the exercise lasted for five consecutive days
and nights, none of the nearly 100 vehicles was paralyzed with cold damage and
no a single one of the 1,000 officers and men suffered frostbite, and for that
matter, effectively upgrading the troop's capability for emergency-dealing.
