After maneuvering more than 5,000-odd km day and night by water, railway
and highway, and having trained on 40-odd subjects with actual troops, full
gears and live ammunitions in the whole process, a missile brigade of the
Nanjing Military Area Command has successfully completed its exercise of more
than three months on the topic of joint firepower strike in the coldest days of
the year. The brigade has created a dozen of "firsts" of the missile troops of
the PLA Army in the exercise and has honed its troops' capabilities of marching,
fighting, eating, camping, hiding, repairing and conducting joint operation
under the information conditions.
The brigade broke away from its traditional exercise modes of independent
operation, phasic objectives and firing under stationary state, and took its
troops to unfamiliar battlefield environment to conduct exercise under the
conditions of "being filled with gun smoke", so to speak, with the troops
running into "hard attack" and "soft destruction" in the whole process. In
places ranging from complex sea waters to scrub forests, from the high mountains
to the vast plains, the brigade drilled on 14 newly-added subjects such as the
anti-reconnaissance, anti-jamming and anti-air-attack in long-distance mobile
missile launching, tested the technical performances of dozens of new armaments
in joint operation, joint training and joint exercise, applied over 70 armament
technical innovative achievements and came up with 12 new training and fighting
methods in joint operation including dispersed disposition, mobile launching and
converging fire attack. They also took the advantage of the execrable weather
conditions to drill on subjects of quick evacuation, hiding the real armaments
by displaying the dummies and mobile missile launching.
