Affected by the cold wave, the sea condition in the Xishan sea area has been especially bad in the past few days. On Jan. 25, braving strong wind and high waves, officers and men of the "Ledong Submarine" of a killer submarine group of the South China Sea Fleet which was on duty for combat-readiness held a maritime single-submarine emergency combat-readiness drill in a setting of various conditions and tactical background.　　

　　At 09:00 sharp, the rapid ringing of the siren set off the exercise. "A suspicious medium-sized object was found in a distance of XX nautical miles and at XX degree of port side!" After receiving the radar report, Captain Yuan Jianjun immediately ordered the troops to get standby. The sailors raced to their respective fighting positions immediately.　　

　　In the commanding cabin, members of the sea chart group continuously reported the positions and speeds of the moving object. The "Ledong Submarine" approached the suspicious object swiftly to scramble for the favorable position. Just as it approached the object, the radar reported: "an unidentified aircraft was found above the neighboring sea area".　　

　　The abruptly changed situation failed to daunt the officers and men of the "Ledong Submarine" and the intense confrontation was still going on. They reported the situation in the sea area after identifying the nationality of the aircraft and the ship. By following the instructions of the higher authority, the submarine successfully defused the emergency.

　　The exercise ended and the "Ledong Submarine" returned with success. The officers and men said that they would do a real good job in the combat-readiness training on holidays, and keep the southern gate of the motherland well protected, so as to enable people all over the country to have a peaceful, warm auspicious Spring Festival!
