In the past few days, the officers and men of a unit of the Second
Artillery Force have carried out vigorous drills on the training ground in the
horrid sun. The horrid sun beats down on them mercilessly, yet their training
quality has not been lowered.
Since the onset of summer, the temperatures have remained high in the area
where the unit is stationed, with the highest temperature over 37℃. In the face
of the extreme weather, this unit let its troops undergo intensive and rigorous
training as usual. What is more, it purposely added something into the training
contents in order to enhance the overall quality of its officers and men,
including their physical strength, endurance, intelligence and physiological
quality, and cultivation of psychological endurance capability under torrid
weather conditions is highlighted in training.
Under the scorching sun, the officers and men of the 4th Battalion of a
brigade of the unit set off from their barracks and headed for their positions
some100 km away. On the way, when the order came from the front that they were
to pass through a contaminated zone, all the officers and men swiftly put on
their protective suits which covered them tightly from head to foot. In a while
they felt suffocated and gasped for breath, as these suits were hot and stuffy.
In spite of this, all the officers and men participating in this drill continued
to press ahead and marched towards their destination.
