Xu Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the Central
Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission,
visited the eight members of the Jinzhou Veteran Voluntary Film Projection
Team in a unit stationed in Jinzhou yesterday and had an informal
discussion with them. Xu praised them for doing work of no reputation but
sharing worries of the Party and bringing fun to people with the simple
sentiment of a veteran and the lofty spirit of an ordinary Party member,
and acclaimed them as the real models of studying and implementing the
important thought of “Three Represents” and good examples for the officers
and men in active service and the demobilized ones as well.
The film projection team consists of eight
demobilized soldiers. Since it was established in October 1996, they have
traveled more than 60,000 kilometers and covered most of the remote
mountainous areas of Jinzhou and west Liaoning Province, and have
voluntarily played more than 450 showings of film with audiences of
780,000 person/times. While showing films, they have also been publicizing
the policies of the Party, scientific and technological knowledge and
information about how to get rich, which helped more than 680
poverty-stricken farmer families shake off poverty and become well-off. In
this July, the PLA Daily and other national media reported their deeds,
which aroused strong echoes inside and outside the army.
After the discussion, Xu presented cultural articles
to the projection team. Qian Guoliang and Jiang Futang, commander and
political commissar of the Shenyang Military Area Command accompanied Xu
during his visit.
