Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building, the
military part of the important thought of "Three Represents", is the
newest achievement of the Marxist military theories in China. To bring the
study and implementation of the important thought of "Three Represents" to
a new high throughout the army, we must have a incisive understanding of
the guiding significance of Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and
army building and study and apply it well.
Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building is of
long-term and fundamental guiding significance towards military changes
with Chinese characteristics and leapfrog development of the armed forces'
modernization. In recent years, we have made historical achievements and
progress in national defense and army building thanks to our earnest study
and implementation of Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army
building. In the new century and the new period, we must continue to study

and give impetus to our work, so as to promote leapfrog development of the
armed forces' modernization and accomplish our historical missions.

national defense and army building, we must study hard his original works
including On National Defense and Army Building and a series of
important speeches and instructions made by him in the past two years,
with the Study Outline on Jiang Zemin's Thinking on National Defense
and Army Building as an important guidance material. We must earnestly
study his original works, mull over and dig into questions seriously so as
to have a thorough comprehension of his thinking.
