BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhuanet) -- China held a symposium here Friday to
commemorate the centennial birth anniversary of Xian Xinghai, agreat Chinese
musician who composed revolutionary songs in the 1930s.
Xian's work, which included "Yellow River Cantata," inspired the Chinese
people to stand up against Japanese aggression, Liu Yunshan, head of the
Department of Publicity of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee,
said at the symposium.
"We should learn from him his inflexible spirit of always sticking to the
path of catering to the taste and interests of the Chinese nation and the common
people," Liu said.
Liu, also member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and
member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, called upon all artists
and writers to create more masterpieces in order to rejuvenate the nation and
serve both the people and socialism.
