After the September 18th Incident in 1931, China was the first to become
the battlefield in the east in the world's anti-fascist war. Hundreds of
millions of Chinese people used their flesh and blood to build an indestructible
wall to resist the enemy. In the hard and bloody battles against foreign
aggression, they fully displayed their heroic and sublime spirit and
unconquerable strength of the Chinese nation, and they had thus created a wonder
in the war history of mankind.
When the Japanese imperialists started the war against China, they had
never expected the war to be concluded in 1945. In this war, over 1.5 million
Japanese invaders were wiped out, and the national flag of Japanese Empire was
never able to hoist in the eastern battlefield. The unconquerable strength of
the Chinese nation displayed in the War of Resistance Against Japanese
Aggression originated from the great national spirit centered on patriotism.
We should realize that broad and profound national awakening of a nation
does not come spontaneously along with the appearance of a national crisis;
there should be some more important internal factors, i.e. the enlightenment and
guidance provided by the advanced class and its party of that country. During
the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the reason why there was
unprecedented awakening of the Chinese nation and strong national cohesiveness,
apart from the ever deepening of the national crisis, the most important reason
was, there was in China the Communist Party of China that had been armed with
scientific Marxist theory and represented the fundamental interests of the vast
majority of the Chinese people.
The establishment of the Anti-Japanese National United Front advocated by
the Communist Party of China is the key to rally the strength of the whole
nation, and it played a decisive role in defeating the Japanese imperialists.
All the descendants of the Yandi and Huangdi and the Chinese sons and daughters,
regardless of their nationalities, races, classes, parties, religions, sex, ages
or professions, and regardless of whether they are on the mainland or overseas,
could join the united front as long as they were patriotic and wanted to
contribute their bit to the country. The establishment and development of the
Anti-Japanese National United Front had not only demonstrated the noble national
spirit and outstanding national wisdom of the CPC, but also provided the best
carrier for rallying the great anti-Japanese national strength, and guided and
ensured the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The Chinese nation today is an awakened nation, a nation that has already
stood up, and a nation that is striving for great rejuvenation in the new
historical period. At the time when we are marking 60th anniversary of the
victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,
we shall be all the more conscious to hold high the great banner of patriotism,
carry forward the national spirit, rally the strength of the whole nation to
work with one heart and one mind for building a well-off society in an all-round
way, and for the great cause of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
