QINGDAO, Aug. 27 (Xinhuanet) --
Russian troops in China to participate in the first joint military exercise with
Chinese troops began on Saturday to leave for
home. The departure was led
by Russian air force and parachuting units in the morning, and Russian
commanders left by a special plane in the
evening. A formation of
Russian warships from the Pacific Fleet is scheduled to leave Qingdao Port on
Sunday morning, with Russian marine corps on
board. The Russians
completed their gathering in the Shandong Peninsula, east China, on Aug. 12, to
join Chinese troops in their first joint drills during Aug. 14-16. Some 10,000
troops of the two countries carried out combat exercises with live ammunition
during Aug. 18-25. After the
exercise was completed, the Russian troops had their parachuting, naval and
air-force equipment on display in Chinese barracks in Weifang City, Qingdao
Port, and Liuting Airport, respectively. Enditem
