Starting from July 2005, the PLA Daily teamed up with the PLA Political Work Net, the Life of the PLA and other military media to jointly sponsor the activity for soliciting "excellent short message works on army life", resulting in harvesting a crop of excellent short messages on army life. In order to present the vigorous new look of the contemporary soldiers to the society, build up the awareness of the importance of national defense and rekindle the enthusiasm of supporting the army throughout the whole society, the nationwide activity of "circulation of excellent short messages on army life" ---a serial project of "short messages in support of the army to promote ideological and political education", was set in motion recently.

　　The activity is organized and mapped out by the Publicity Department of the General Political Department of the PLA, sponsored by China Mobile Communications Corporation, and backed up by the Beijing W-infinity Science & Technology Co., Ltd. in terms of providing free technical support, putting the project into motion and ensuring the smooth running.

　　When the activity is in swing, many subscribers can receive excellent short messages on army life on their mobile phones. All the messages are the "original works" of the officers and men, among which some are short stories mirroring the army life, some are the reflections of the life of the officers and men, some are the words of the profound sentiments of friendship from their comrades in arms, and others are the best wishes sent to their families and relatives.
