Redouble efforts to promote education on historical mission of the army

Army is borne with its
missions and soldiers exist on their missions. Education of missions makes up
the basic education of the army, and for that matter, deserves constant
attention and never let it go at that. The effective implementation of Chairman
Hu Jintao's important instructions and the effort of doing a good job in the
foundation work of the political and ideological construction of the army demand
further deepening the education on the historical mission of the army and
constantly building up the level of consciousness and firmness of the officers
and men in being faithful and devoted to the mission and in bringing their
missions to success.
The historical mission of our army has basically
set the orientation of development, the objectives of struggle and the guiding
principles of the army building. Being the epitome that embodies the functional
tasks of the army in a given period of time, it carries different connotations
in various periods. In the new period of the new century, Chairman Hu Jintao
earnestly put forward the historical mission of "Three provides and one
play-a-role-in" (The army should provide an important power guarantee for the
Party to entrench its governing position, provide staunch security insurance for
safeguarding the strategic opportunity period of the national development,
provide a powerful strategic support for maintaining the national interests, and
play an important role in maintaining world peace and promoting common
development.), which is of great importance in rendering energetic boost to the
unfolding of the education on the historical mission of the army, in cohering
the will and strength of the whole army and in promoting a faster and better
development of the national defense and army building.
The vigorous
promotion of education on the historical mission of the army stands for guiding
the officers and men to further deepen their comprehension of the scientific
connotation of the historical mission of the army in the new period of the new
century, guiding them to further enhance their sense of urgency and sense of
responsibility, and guiding them to further uplift their competency and makings
needed for implementing the mission. We should regard practice as the best
platform to enhance the competency and makings, get weathered and steeled,
harden the will, develop the moral integrity and improve the skills by way of
plunging into military trainings, participating in major military exercises and
undertaking emergent, difficult and dangerous tasks.
