Fast food makes way to field operation

Even forced march under a severe cold of -20℃ was not fatigue enough to wear down the officers and men of a division of the Shenyang Military Area Command.

A food revolution is quietly unfolding in a division of the Shenyang Military Area Command. Instead of sticking to the traditional way of catering in emergency field operation, the division chooses to draw on the strength of the computerized decision-making system for wartime catering support and process the meat, vegetables and eggs into finished and semi-finished products in proper proportion according to the calorific requirement for high-intensity training under frigid climate and the standard for ensuring food nutrition. Thanks to this effort, in emergency field operation, the officers and men just need to heat the food in the multi-functional cooking vehicle for field operation and the food will be ready for them--- convenient and nutritious.

Night fell. The troops had no sooner come to a mountain valley for encampment than a reconnaissance element was ordered to hide in concealment in a forward position. The reconnaissance element, which had just done a long-range raid for a whole day, had to set out without having dinner. At the site of concealment, the reporters saw the officers and men of the reconnaissance element taking out their well-packed bags of self-heated food from their backpacks. By rubbing the bags after adding some water or some snow to them, warm, aromatic and tasty instant food was ready magically.

"Thanks to the fast food for field operation, the officers and men can not only be ensured hot meals, but also sufficient nutrition," said Xing Jianfei, head of the logistics section of the division. The traditional food support pattern of "set up a pot and cook in the field" can't fit in with the fast changing information warfare, while the fast food for field operation provides the desirable answer to the food supply problem on the training ground in winter.
