The leading bodies of the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the PLA held a lecture on learning high-tech knowledge yesterday afternoon, which was attended by Chen Bingde, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and director of the General Armaments Department of the PLA.

　　For the sake of carrying out CMC Chairman Hu Jintao's important instruction on making further intensive and sustained efforts to lay stress on learning high-tech knowledge, the General Armaments Department has mapped out the plan for learning high-tech knowledge in the new year.

　　Lu Yongxiang, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a talk under the title of "National S&T Innovation Program and S&T Innovation Development of National Defense", and elaborated comprehensively and explicitly on the scientific and technological innovation and the revolution in military affairs, the tendency of high-tech development in the world as well as the breakthrough results achieved by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in executing the national scientific and technological innovation program in recent years.
