Military leaders participate in voluntary tree planting in Beijing

  The budding poplars and willows ushered in a luxuriant spring. Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Cao Gangchuan, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, state councilor and minister of defense, and Xu Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, came to Yongding Town, Mentougou District of Beijing yesterday morning to participate in voluntary tree planting.

  Liu Qi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, joined them in this event.

  Other members of the Central Military Commission, including Liang Guanglie, Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chen Bingde, Qiao Qingchen and Jing Zhiyuan also participated in the event.

  At 9:30 am, Guo Boxiong, Cao Gangchuan, Xu Caihou and Liu Qi came enthusiastically to the locale of tree-planting situated on the bank of the Yongding River in west Beijing to join other military and civilian leaders to plant, earth up and water trees. A total of 1,100 trees, including lacebark pine, purpleblow maple and flowering peach, were planted. It was the 25th time for the leaders of the Central Military Commission, the four general headquarters/departments of the PLA and the major units of the troops stationed in Beijing to participate in voluntary tree planting in Beijing.
