Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of
general staff of the PLA, met with a delegation of the Korean People's Army led
by An Yong Gi, director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the People's Armed
Forces Department of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) yesterday
in Beijing.
Liang Guanglie said that China and the DPRK are amicable neighbors linked
by mountains and rivers, there exists profound traditional friendship between
the peoples of the two countries, and the two sides have all along maintained
friendly cooperative ties in political, economic, cultural, military and other
fields. The China-DPRK friendship has now become a common valuable wealth of the
two sides. Over the past years, China and DPRK have maintained close exchanges
and cooperation in military field, through which the two sides have promoted the
development of their respective armies and made contributions to the development
of the friendly cooperative ties between the two countries. The Chinese side is
willing to join hands with the DPRK to push for further development of friendly
cooperative ties between the two countries and the two militaries, and make more
contributions to regional peace and stability.
Liang Guanglie also briefed his guests on China's stand on the nuclear
issue on the Korean Peninsular and China's domestic situation and the army
building.
An Yong Gi said that there exists profound traditional friendship between
the DPRK and China and their two peoples. Since the advent of the new century,
the DPRK-China friendship has entered a new stage of development. The armed
forces of the DPRK is willing to constantly make new contributions to promoting
the friendship between the two countries and the two militaries, and the DPRK is
willing to work together with the Chinese side for maintaining regional peace
and stability.
