BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese general on Tuesday praised
China-U.S. military cooperation in a meeting with visiting U.S. Defense
Department officials in Beijing.
"Sino-U.S. military ties have maintained a good momentum of development,"
Director of the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army
(PLA) Li Jinai said in the meeting with General Counsel of the U.S. Defense
Department William Haynes.
Li, a member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), China's top military
authority, hailed the frequent high-level visits, new cooperation areas and
effective exchanges between military institutions.
Haynes said the United States would adhere to the one-China policy and
three U.S.-China joint communiques, according to a statement from the Chinese
Defense Ministry.
Haynes is visiting China at the invitation of the PLA General Political
Department.
