BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Guo Boxiong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, met here Thursday afternoon with Martin Shalli, chief of the Namibian Defense Force, exchanging views on promoting relations between the two countries and the two armed forces.

　　Guo hailed the smooth development of relations between the two armed forces.

　　He expressed his appreciation for Namibia's adherence to the one-China policy and support for China in international affairs, adding China is ready to work with Namibia to raise the level of bilateral friendship and cooperation.

　　Shalli said Namibia and China attach great importance to the friendly and cooperative ties between them and share many views on the future and the world.

　　He thanked China for its support for Namibia, saying Namibia will continue to promote the development of friendly and cooperative ties with China and continue to stick to the one-China policy.

　　Before meeting with Guo, Shalli held talks with Liang Guanglie, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

　　The two exchanged views on cooperation between the two armed forces in various fields, according to the Chinese Defense Ministry.

　　Shalli told Liang that Namibia considers its relationship with China an important relationship based on mutual respect and friendly cooperation, and is looking forward to expanding cooperation.

　　Shalli started a weeklong official visit to China on Sunday.
