Liang Guanglie holds talks with Thai counterpart

  Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of general staff of the PLA, held talks with Gen. Boonsrang Niumpradit, supreme commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces yesterday in Beijing.

  Liang Guanglie said that China and Thailand have always trusted each other and have had close cooperation over the past three decades since the establishment of the diplomatic relations. Meanwhile, the militaries of the two countries have also maintained close contact and exchanges. China appreciates Thai government's understanding and support for China on the Taiwan and Tibet issues, etc. In the new historic period, the Chinese side is willing to continue to promote the result-oriented friendly cooperative ties between the two countries and the two militaries, and make positive efforts to deepen the China-Thailand friendship and common development.

  Boonsrang Niumpradit said that for years Thailand and China have respected each other and established fraternal traditional friendship. The constant development of relations between the two militaries is the result of common efforts of the two sides. He also reiterated that Thailand would continue to firmly stick to its one-China policy.

  Before the talks, Liang Guanglie held a welcome ceremony for Boonsrang Niumpradit. Zhang Qinsheng, deputy chief of general staff of the PLA, participated in the abovementioned activities.
